Update: Ukraine Haus wird Gemeinschaftsunterkunft des IBB
The Ukraine Haus in Bessemerstraße in Berlin-Tempelhof, located in the former retirement home building, was originally founded as an initial reception center by the non-profit association "Ukraine Haus e.V." and was transferred to the responsibility and administration of the Internationaler Bund - IB Berlin-Brandenburg in September 2023 as shared accommodation for refugees. Das Projekt „Ukraine Haus“
Als Folge des Kriegs in der Ukraine sind viele Mitarbeiter*innen unserer ukrainischen Tochter- und Partnerfirmen mit ihren Familien auf der Flucht. In einem ehemaligen Altenheim möchten wir ihnen ein Zuhause für die ersten Wochen nach ihrer Ankunft in Deutschland bieten. Hier finden Geflüchtete aus der Ukraine – zumeist Mütter mit ihren Kindern und Senioren – einen sicheren Ort, an dem sie zur Ruhe kommen können und umfassende Unterstützung für ihren Aufenthalt in Deutschland erhalten.
The Building
A former senior citizens' residence in the Tempelhof district of Berlin serves as an accommodation with 125 rooms, that are provided free of charge by the Kuthe Group, a sister company of C. Bechstein Pianoforte AG. The six-story building provides living space for up to 300 people. The first refugee employees and their families moved into the Ukraine Haus building on April 25, 2022. In addition to bedrooms and living rooms with attached bathrooms, the barrier-free house has several rooms that would be suitable as kitchens. On the second floor, there will be workrooms and studies as well as spaces for childcare and playrooms.
